I am having trouble to install the rosetta module on my own site and I think other people are struggling with this as well. I think it would be much better to have some sort of central repository/site for translations, so the work can be shared and the result translation can be included in the source distribution right away. Would it be a good idea to set up some sort of central translation site for osqa translations? |

Yes @gyurisc, this should definitely be possible and I support the idea. I will raise it again within our team. No promises, but maybe we'll get a server online for collaborative translation. I would love to do the hungarian translation once such site is online. Thanks!

crowdin.net is a community translation tool. Would be great if this could be linked to osqa's translation files. They have support voor Google and MS translate, so you can run every string through both of them, pick the best translation, edit a bit if necessary, and on to the next string! I opened up a project for Dutch translation. I can add other languages. Visit at http://crowdin.net/project/osqa-dutch/invite

Has there been an update on this? OpenStreetMap.org use OSQA for their help system and have communities in many different languages. Because of that, translating OSQA into those various languages is important and we are therefore considering asking the community to help on the translations. The question though is how best to do this? Having a central translation instance at OSQA would be easiest, as we could then direct our users to that site for helping with the translations and periodically pull in the changes back through svn. P.S. sorry, this isn't an answer, but I didn't seem to be able to comment on the other answer. The following could work for you: - manage all the translations on crowdin (http://crowdin.net/project/osqa-dutch/invite) - export the .po file for each language - compile them with pocompile into .mo files - add these files to SVN I set up the crowdin project. If you want more languages in this project, just let me know.
