How can a user completely disable email notifications ?

In beta3 I don't see the way to disable all kinds of email notifications.

I a user doesn't want to receive an email when his question has been replied, how can he/she configure this behavior?

I think we should consider that some users don't want to receive emails at all and we should support a way to accomplish this.

Doesn't the Stop Notifications button under the User tools > Notifications and subscription settings do this?

This button has disappeared in beta3. You cannot find it on this site for example.
