I see from the sample OSCA "About" text that the syntax used is " [span class="orange"]Q&A[/span] " and this displays orange text in my preview window

However, if I change the colour to [span class="green"]Q&A[/span] the text just appears as normal black

Currently markdown doesn't support color changes. As the OSQA editor is based on Markdown, you cannot change the text color too.
