When I post a new question, and someone posts an answer or comment, I should be notified by email. I believe this is not the current state of affairs. This is an important feature / bugfix, because most new people won't be aware of the "subscribe" mechanism.

If it is an actual bug, then you should post it at http://jira.osqa.net rather than here. It sounds like a bug to me.

In second thought, I think it's the daily digest you started sending that triggered gmail to treat you as spam. In fact, it is rather spammish (I don't remember opting-in to this, and once a day is much too high - I think it should be an opt-in email, or make it once a week/two).
