I don't understand which is the criteria for sorting this:

We're actually still experimenting with the hottest algorithm so that it is different than most viewed. I believe it has something to do with questions that have the most recently posted answers or comments or listed first.

Is questions with the most activity in the last 24 hours. Is written there under the numbers.

Yes but currently "hottest" is not sorting by "most viewed"...
