When setting up a new OSQA site, it can be difficult to tell if emails are being sent correctly. Is there an easy way to check its functionality, and run this technique several times, until the settings are correctly configured?

The question has been closed for the following reason "Other - now fixed in trunk - a "test" button is available from the admin email-settings page" by Andrew_S 29 Apr '11, 16:23

You can always use the feedback page.

So if you send feedback, but email is broken, how long do you have to wait to find out? Could you be notified instantly (e.g. sorry, email didn't work)? And how do I troubleshoot why the email doesn't get sent?
