Every detail would be great so as to minimize the downtime of the site and so we can inform the community before the actual migration and how long it will take.

Thanks. It just so happens that there's a sense of urgency. LOL

Is there a wiki article on this? I couldn't find it. Where is this documented?

Are you hosting the site yourself? If so, the following should work:

  1. Get a data dump from your existing StackExchange site
  2. Install the OSQA software and the required packages. The instructions available here are pretty good.
  3. Create an account on your new site, the first account created gets superuser privileges and becomes the administrator.
  4. Log in as the administrator and visit http://yourhost/admin/sximporter/ and provide the data dump acquired in step 1.

First thing, get a data dump from your current site, then all it takes is a command to import the data dump into the osqa database. We're still working on improving the system, but somewhere in the next few days it should be ready :-)

Edit:

There isn't many details about the subject yet, since all this SX thing only happened a couple of days ago, but yes, you can keep your domain, that's something that didn't even occurred to me to mention it, since is at least the very least we can do. (sorry for the redundancy in the words)

More details please. We also need to use our existing domain name so that users won't have to go to a different url.
