  1. Links that are copy-pasted into comments should get an automatic "a href" wrapper.
  2. There should be a UI to linkify any custom text in a comment. Something like this.

+1 It is a pain in the rear that we don't support some basic Markdown in comments. I think the length restriction is comments is also too severe.

I like @ripper234's suggestion for hyperlinks (esp. when pointing to another question, they're needed) but I'm not sure full markdown (line breaks? code? horizontal rules? etc.) would be a good thing since the intentionally minimalistic display helps differentiate comments vs. questions.

definitely agree that a larger default char limit is more reasonable. How about 600?
